THE
SILENCE
Safe Spoken have one simple mission: to provide a safe space for women, non binary people, and marginalised genders from the Spoken Word community to find help and support if they have been a victim of domestic violence, harassment, sexual assault, rape, and/or any other related crime. The primary purpose of Safe Spoken is to provide support in the form of access to information and services.
WAYS WE HELP
SIGNPOSTING
Victims and survivors can reference Safe Spoken’s Helpful Contacts list to access short or long-term emotional support, advocacy, counselling, advice or refuge in the UK. Speak to a professional in confidence, and get support from frontline professionals who have the knowledge and experience to help.
SPOKEN ACTIVISM
Safe Spoken offers a platform for women, non-binary people, and other marginalised genders to share their stories through creative expression; primarily spoken word poetry, but all forms of artistic expression are encouraged and welcomed with an option to publish anonymously.
SHARING INFORMATION
On our social media platforms people can access information about violence against women, non binary, and other marginalised genders with a breakdown off different forms of abuse, articles, advice, research and statistics, interwoven with spoken words that simply need to be heard and heeded.
“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.”
